How to find where buyers drop out
Build a conversion funnel of two to six steps, see where buyers drop out between them, and open the people who stopped. Counted by person or by visit.
An insight is a saved chart or number, such as a trend, a breakdown or a funnel, that runs again on fresh data each time you open it.
Many analytics tools let you save a question as a chart: sign-ups per week, revenue by channel, the checkout funnel. The saved chart is called an insight, a report or a widget, depending on the tool. It stores the question rather than the answer, so opening it again runs it on the latest data.
Saved insights are how a team agrees on what it watches. Once “revenue by channel” is defined in one place, everyone reads the same number instead of rebuilding it with slightly different filters.
An insight is a saved trend, breakdown, number or funnel. Insights go on dashboards, next to ready tiles for the key numbers, Google Search and Ads. Claude and other agents connected over the Model Context Protocol (MCP) can read insights and dashboards, and can create insights once you switch on “May change setup” for that connection.
A breakdown of last month’s Acme Shop buyers by channel starts with Organic search at 24, Direct at 22 and Paid search at 21.
