Funnel

A funnel is an ordered set of steps towards a goal, counted so you can see how many people reach each step and where they drop out.

A funnel lists the steps between arriving and converting, such as viewing a product, adding it to the cart, starting checkout and paying. It counts how many people reached each step in order, so the biggest drop becomes visible, and that is usually the step worth fixing first.

Two settings change what a funnel means. The window is how long someone has to get from the first step to the last. The unit decides whether the steps must happen within one visit or may spread across several visits by the same person. Purchases that take days need a longer window and the person as the unit.

In MIRA FIVE

Funnels live in Journeys. A funnel has 2 to 6 steps, a window of 1, 7, 14 or 30 days, and counts by person or by visit. Funnels follow people across visits, so they need visitors who consented. People can be filtered by the funnel step they reached, which turns a drop into a list of people.

Example

The Acme Shop’s checkout funnel: 812 people viewed a product, 391 added to cart, 231 started checkout and 138 paid. The first step loses the most: 421 of the 812 product viewers, 52%, left before the cart.
