Lifecycle stage

A lifecycle stage says how far a person has come with your business, such as first-time visitor, returning visitor, signed-in user or customer.

Lifecycle stages sort people by their relationship with you rather than by what they did today. Marketing and sales teams use them to decide who gets which message: a first-time visitor needs a reason to come back, a signed-up user needs a reason to buy, a customer needs a reason to buy again.

Stages work best when they are set by behaviour the tool can see. A person then moves on by themselves when they return, sign in or buy, and nobody has to maintain a list.

In MIRA FIVE

Every person has one of four stages. Visitor is the starting point. Returning means two or more visits. Known means they signed in, through identify(userId). Customer means they bought. People can be filtered by stage, and customers and known people have their own views in People.

Example

Emil Becker is a customer of the Acme Shop, first seen 11 days ago through an Instagram ad. Emil then clicked the newsletter and bought for €328 after a Google search.
