Buying intent
Buying intent is the sign that a person is close to a purchase, read from what they do: viewing pricing, adding to cart, starting checkout.
Most visitors browse; a few are deciding. Buying intent is the evidence of the second group in their behaviour: they compare plans, read the returns policy, add to cart, start checkout or come back to the same product. Intent matters because it shows up before the sale, while a reminder, a better page or a call can still change the outcome.
Intent signals differ by business. For a shop, a started checkout is strong; for a software company, a second pricing visit or a demo request may be stronger.
In MIRA FIVE
Intent is a goal role. Mark an action such as viewing pricing or starting checkout as an intent goal, and People gains a High intent view: everyone who reached it in the last 14 days and has not bought. “What they want” is one of the four questions the dashboard is organised around, with its own briefing card on the Overview.
Example
The Acme Shop’s segment “Left a cart this week” holds 23 people, each of whom got as far as the cart this week.
