Visit

A visit is one arrival on a website: the pages and events from the moment someone lands until they leave or go quiet.

A visit, also called a session, groups what one person does in one sitting. It starts on a landing page, carries the channel that brought the person there, and ends when they leave or stop interacting for a while. Many tools close a visit after 30 minutes of inactivity.

Visits are the unit for traffic questions: how many arrivals a campaign produced, which page they started on, how many left after one page. Questions about customers need the level above, the person, because a buyer often arrives several times before paying.

In MIRA FIVE

Visits are counted in the default setup, where no cookies are set and no identifier is stored. For visitors who consent, full mode joins visits up into people; a site that does both uses a website source set to Full, with each page choosing the mode per visitor. Each person’s page lists every visit with its events. The Overview charts visits and people side by side, and Data → Visits has a list of visits.

Example

In the Acme Shop’s last 30 days, Direct brought 525 visits from 175 people, and 22 of those people bought.
