Identity stitching
Identity stitching links the visits a person made before signing in, and on other devices, to one profile once they identify themselves.
A person who browses on a phone at lunch and buys on a laptop at night looks like two strangers to a tool that only sees browsers. Identity stitching, also called identity resolution, joins them. The dependable way is deterministic: when the person signs in, the site passes its own user ID, and every browser that ID appears on becomes part of the same person, including the visits made there before signing in.
Probabilistic methods guess from device signals instead. They reach further but can merge two people into one, and every per-person number inherits the error.
In MIRA FIVE
Stitching is deterministic. Call identify(userId) when someone signs in, with an ID from your own system, and MIRA FIVE links that browser’s history to the person. A person’s page lists their devices, and their stage becomes Known. Stitching applies to visitors who consented, because only they have a history to link.
