# Landing page

A landing page is the first page someone sees on a visit, the page they entered on, whether or not it was built for a campaign.

In marketing, a landing page is often a page built for one campaign. In analytics, the term is broader: any page where a visit began. A home page, a blog post found through search and a product page shared on social media are all landing pages when people enter on them.

Landing pages carry the first impression of each channel. Reading them per channel shows what each audience meets first, and whether they go further or leave. A campaign that sends people to a page that misses the ad’s promise shows up here first, as entries with a high [bounce rate](https://mirafive.io/glossary/bounce-rate).
