A customer journey is the sequence of visits and touchpoints a person goes through, from first contact with a business to buying and beyond.

Few people buy on their first visit. A typical path starts with an ad, a search or a recommendation, returns days later through another channel, and ends with a purchase or a sign-up. Customer journey analytics follows that path person by person, so you can see which channels start journeys, which ones bring people back, and where people drop out.

Journeys need recognition across visits. A tool that counts visits in isolation sees three unrelated arrivals where there was one customer.

## In MIRA FIVE

Each person’s page is their journey: first touch, then every visit with its events, the key pages and the goals they reached. Journeys shows paths across all people. The Map draws ribbons from channel to landing page to outcome, and Conversion journeys list the channels buyers came through, visit by visit, before buying. Journeys across visits rely on visitors who consented.

## Example

In the Acme Shop, the most common paths to purchase were Direct alone (8 buyers), Paid search then Direct (7), and Organic search alone (5). The median buyer took 10 days from first visit to purchase.
