Bounce rate is the share of visits that began on a page and saw no other page before the visitor left.

Bounce rate divides single-page visits by all visits that began on a page. A visit that lands on a blog post and leaves is a bounce; one that goes on to a product page is not.

A high bounce rate can be fine. A contact page, a recipe or an article that answers the question may bounce often and still do its job. It is a warning sign on pages meant to lead somewhere: a campaign landing page, a category page, a pricing page. Compare pages of the same kind, and compare one page across channels.

Definitions differ between tools. Google Analytics 4, for instance, defines bounce rate as the share of sessions that were not engaged, so its figures do not line up with a page-based bounce rate.

## In MIRA FIVE

Bounce rate is page-based: the share of visits that began on a page and saw no other page. Journeys › Pages shows it for every page beside pageviews, people, entries, exits and time on page. Sorting by entries puts your [landing pages](https://mirafive.io/glossary/landing-page) first, which is where bounce rate says the most. Bounce rate uses visits with consent; entries count all traffic.
